Well every year there are some changes to the mark calculation method for KEAM 2012. Below is a simplified version of how to calculate marks for both Engineering and Medical Entrance exams for 2012.
Medical: According to KEAM 2012 prospectus page 29, only the entrance marks will be taken into consideration for rank list. The maximum marks is 960. You can calculate your total marks and enter into Parinama Insights to get an approximate rank in Medical Entrance Exams.
Engineering: According to KEAM 2012 prospectus page 28 there are 2 parts to score calculation.

- 50% of marks will come from entrance exams. The total marks in entrance paper is 960. The total marks obtained by candidates will be computed to 300 marks. For example a candidate getting 400 marks out of 960 will get 125 marks out of 300.
- 50% of marks will come from Class 12 marks (Physics, Maths, Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology). Those marks will also be computed out of 300 marks. The CEE will use a special formula to calculate the Class 12 marks. Last year the total marks were 1000. This year it is expected to be 600
- Calculate Entrance exam marks first. Use official KEAM answers to calculate total marks obtained. Then use this formula: (Your Marks from Entrance/960) multiplied with 300
- Calculate total marks on Physics, Maths, Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology. Then use this formula: Your total marks for (P+M+C/Total Maximum Marks) multiplied with 300. This is a rough calculation method only. Detailed calculation will be provided by KEAM. Please choose only one subject from Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology for calculation.
- Add 1 + 2 to get marks in 600.
