I stumbled upon a new rank predictor from an engineering college in Kerala (ACETVM). They have an interesting post on the logic behind keam rank predictor. They have an interesting graph. They have explained logic used by KEAM. The logic is not new. KEAM CEE publishes statistical information every year. The graph used in the post looks good but they haven't given an explanation of the graph.
I tested the rank predictor provided by ACE.Sorry guys it does not work. It does not do anything even after entering data and clicking Check Rank button. See update at the bottom of this post
The graph I liked in the post shown below-
To Folks at ACE: Please see if you can fix the program and explain the graph in your post. This will make your product complete.
Update[5pm] - May 5, 2015: The folks at ACE have fixed the issue with the calculator. I ran a test case to verify it. They have also explained the graph with a statistical formula. It is an interesting read. Please try it out and let us know your comments.
Update - May 16, 2016: As of today ACETVM has quietly removed the rank predictor from their college websites. Rank predictor is a controversial tool. It is very difficult to predict ranks based on past rank. There is no official notification from them. Also it is not sure if they have moved this tool to a different url.
We are speculating that ACETVM removed the tool from their website because they may not want unnecessary controversy at the Ask the Expert Seminar conducted by Mathrubhumi starting on May 24, 2016. ACETVM is one of the Associate Sponsors for this event along with Lourdes Matha College.
